As of today, the lecture concerning reproduction and development is complete. Students were given a worksheet to be used a review. They were reminded to complete their assignment on their own. In addition, they were reminded of their vocabulary quiz, which is Tuesday, Feb 1, 2011. They must be able to spell the vocabulary terms. There was a bellwork assignment. It was a series of 7 questions that served as a review for the recent material. Students were told to write the question and the answer down and to keep the paper as notes in their notebooks. I reviewed the questions and we answered them together. 1st 6th period did not get to do this and will do it tomorrow. 7th period started the assignment, but the bell rang before it was completed. The last two questions will be completed tomorrow.
In addition, we discussed the types and roles of hormones that influence the reproductive system (GnRH, LH, FSH, Estrogen, Progesterone, & Testosterone). This is important information and students will be expected to know it for the test.

There is a form to the right of the screen called “Parental/Guardian Consent” form. It is located under “Worksheets and Forms”. YOU MUST HAVE THIS SIGNED BY TUESDAY 1/25/2011 IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN CLASS FOR THE NEXT SECTION. If you can not get it printed out, please see me for a copy. On January 14, 2011
All classes continued to review for the Midterm. Some students chose to take home a practice test and study guide. We went over the practice test, question by question, and I explained any details where students had questions. I also reviewed good test taking skills, such as:
-not being intimidated by a long question,
-breaking questions down on your scrap piece of paper,
-making drawings/diagrams/tables that pertain to the question, and
-writing down everything you can remember about a topic discussed in a question, before looking at the answers.
Sometimes, when we read a test question, we jump right to the answer choices and get intimidated by the test if we don’t know the answer right away. Brainstorming your test question, before you do this, will help you to stay calm during any test.
